12.29.24 While it Is Called Today

This is the blog title. It will likely be titled just like this, like a daily journal.

Have you ever noticed that when you want to give your attention to something, somethings are standing in line? It could be the child, the cat, the message board, the spouse, the office, but distractions are everywhere. They are like metal filings clinging to your magnetic field. It seems especially true when you're working on something for the kingdom. It's been prompted by the Holy Spirit, so it comes with peace. That is, until you start to do it.

In the process of gathering photos and building this site, the metal filings came at me in the form of technical glitches that needed to be addressed, a sweet cat perched and purring at my desk, messages from my daughter, and the benevolent call of my husband announcing my lunch had arrived. Can't they see I'm busy? I chuckled.

I have had to learn to step away from the struggle rather than to step into it. I remember it's not flesh and blood (or technology) I struggle with, but entities who seize an opportunity to take me off course by my emotional responses. It isn't them. It's me.

Yes, the work is important, and God knows I've been waiting months, if not years, for the right time. So does the enemy. The most important thing I can do is to lay aside what I"m intent on doing, reach inside, and realize what it is that I need to focus on, knowing God causes all things to work together for my good, and relax. The website can wait a few minutes... the cat will be sustained by a cuddle and a kind word. The sandwich is best eaten when it's fresh, and I can message my daughter and let her know I'll answer her in a little while, unless it's urgent. But, the peace? That's the thing I must do first. I must get back to that peace and stay there, because that peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
